Wallum is back with a brand new wallet design and they have launched their new Wallum U1 Wallet on Kickstarter. The Wallum A1 wallet was one of the first wallets that we reviewed on the site almost exactly 2 years ago. While the A1 wallet had a plate design with a very unique 4 o-ring clamping design, the U1 has similarities with the Decadent Minimalist One wallet with its “U-shaped” design.
Made from aircraft grade aluminum and anodized for scratch resistant, the new Wallum U1 wallet is light, tough as steel and is designed to carry up to 9 cards. Unlike a standard plate-type wallet, you don’t have to worry about prying the two plates apart to insert cards. A spring type money clip made from fiber glass holds the cards in place. With the clip, even a single card can be held securely. The clip is also designed to hold folded money bills as well of course. We liked the fact that with the money clip, cash can be stored on the outside for easy access instead of having to stuff it in between cards.
The entire Wallum U1 wallet is made up of just 2 parts – the aluminum body and the fiber glass clip. There are no screws used in its construction. This truly minimalist design also means that there will be no issues with loose or broken screws, or small parts that come apart with long use. The Wallum U1 wallet is built to last a lifetime.
Wallum is currently crowd sourcing the U1 wallet on Kickstarter. If you want to help make the U1 wallet a reality or if you want to be one of the first people to own one, just head on over to their Kickstarter page and pledge your support. Wallum is also confident that their supporters will get their wallets in the beginning of December so it will make a perfect Christmas present either for a loved one or for yourself.
