Plate wallets are great because minimalist wallets don’t get any slimmer than a plate wallet. After all, they are seldom anything more than your cards and cash sandwiched between two thin sheets of metal. However, extracting your wallet content and also inserting it back in after you are done with it does require more hassle for most plate wallet designs. The Identity Wallet is a plate wallet with a a couple of unique features that addresses this issue.
Firstly, the Identity Wallet replaces the usual double metal plates with just a single piece of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is the lightweight but incredibly strong material that is used for in airplanes and high end race cars. The result is a wallet that is tough and durable and yet super light at the same time. There are two bends in the carbon fiber sheet that creates a clamping force to hold the wallet contents secure. The clamp force can hold a single card securely. Each of the two compartments in the Identity Wallet can hold up to 4 cards for a total of 8 cards.
The second unique feature of the Identity Wallet is the two slider windows, one on each side of the wallet. Using your thumb, you can push and fan out the cards from the wallet making it easy for you to identify and select the card that you want. Pushing the card back in once you are done with it is also easy because of the gap on one end of the compartment. You don’t have to pry the existing cards apart in order to fit in the card.
Since the Identity Wallet uses no elastic band to hold the wallet together, that also means that you don’t have to worry about replacing broken or loose elastic bands.
